CLAREMORE, OKLA – The Green Country Hamfest Committee held our regular monthly meeting Thursday, March 12, 2020. During that meeting, there was a discussion of the current covid-19 pandemic.  As Oklahoma’s largest and most attended hamfest, the committee thought it was important to update the Amateur Radio community with the latest information about this year’s Green Country Hamfest.  The 2020 Green Country Hamfest will be held on April 10th & 11th as scheduled.  The information on the covid-19 pandemic is a rapidly changing situation. And the health and welfare of all attending this event is very important to the committee. (more…)

From ARRL.org 01/07/2020 A strong magnitude 6.4 earthquake hit Puerto Rico early on January 7 on the heels of a smaller magnitude 5.8 tremor a day earlier. The Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority reported widespread power outages after generating plants automatically activated protective shutdown systems following the earthquake. Puerto Rico Governor Wanda Vazquez Garced urged citizens to remain calm. “The entire government is active and in action,” Governor Vazquez said in a tweet. “I ask our people to remain calm and urge you to remain safe.” Government offices have been shut down for the day. James Plumlee, KI5DAZ, has set the next date for the Hospital Net.  We are going to do something different this time, Wednesday evening, Jan 22, 2020.  This will avoid the Saturday/weekend complications…plus train on a different day and time.  Planning is already underway. We will need all of our qualified, trained, and credentialed volunteers as we want to conduct a FULL test of all facilities…vs a fraction.  James will also be coordinating with OKMRC to access their list of volunteers to assist in the test.
