The American Radio Relay League Oklahoma Section (ARRLOK) is the local field organization that links local hams with the ARRL. If you’re reading this, you have found at least one way to interact with us. However, there are a half dozen ways to get section information. Thanks to Lloyd Colston KC5FM, we have a significant presence on the social media platforms of Blogspot, Facebook, and Twitter. Welcome to the ARRL Oklahoma Section News. I’m Mark Kleine N5HZR and over the past 35+ years, I’ve been able to meet a good number of you at hamfests, club meetings, and special events. As I started this Section Manager journey during the past couple of weeks, I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting hundreds more of you via email, DMR, and Zoom. ARES-Oklahoma – Exercise Scenario for the 2020 SETThis is Oklahoma and line of powerful thunderstorms has moved through your area. Strong winds, flooding rains, damaging hail and lighting have paralyzed several of counties in your area. Wind speeds exceeded 65 MPH and have caused many trees, branches and some power lines to fail. Estimates are between 35 to 60 percent of homes in your area are without power. Voice communications infrastructure has been slightly effected, however written-message (digital) communications suffered greatly with the loss of internet and wireless communications in many areas. Green Country Hamfest Canceled

CLAREMORE, OKLA – The Green Country Hamfest Committee had been monitoring the rapidly changing information and recommendations from Oklahoma State Health Department (OSHD) as well as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about the COVID-19 pandemic. Our first concern is the health and wellbeing of all hamfest attendees, our vendors/partners and the Amateur Radio community in general. We take great pride in the Green Country Hamfest being Oklahoma’s largest and most attended hamfest, so we say, it is with much disappointment that we must announce the following: The 2020 Green Country Hamfest has been canceled. Green Country Hamfest covid-19 update – 12 Mar 2020

CLAREMORE, OKLA – The Green Country Hamfest Committee held our regular monthly meeting Thursday, March 12, 2020. During that meeting, there was a discussion of the current covid-19 pandemic.  As Oklahoma’s largest and most attended hamfest, the committee thought it was important to update the Amateur Radio community with the latest information about this year’s Green Country Hamfest.  The 2020 Green Country Hamfest will be held on April 10th & 11th as scheduled.  The information on the covid-19 pandemic is a rapidly changing situation.
